للعصفور لبن مثل غيره من الطيور ولا يختلف فى تركيبه الكيميائى عن لبن اى حوان اخر فهو يحتوى على ماده بروتينيه كازينجين ودهون وسكر اللاكتوز ولكنه يختلف عن لبن الحيوانات فى بعض خواصه الطبيعيه لانه ليس سائل ولكنه على هيئه فتات ابيض اللون هش سريع التكسر .
فى زمن حضانه البيض يتحور النسيج الدلخلى لحويصله الطائر تحور دهنى ويزداد سمك الغشاء المبطن للحويصله .
فيصل فى الاناث لميليمتر وفى الذكور ونص وفى الذكور 3 مللميتر مع العلم بان الغشاء لا يزيد فى الاوقات العاديه على جزء من عشره اجزاء من الملليمتر .
ويفرز كل من الذكور والاناث اللبن . فيشتركوا الاثنين فى اطعام الصغار .
