أيهما أولى : الحج أم إطعام الجائع ؟
وأنت في الطريق إلى الحج وجدت جائعاً: ماذا تصنع ؟!
أراد الإمام عبد الله بن المبارك الحج فدعا مجموعة العلماء والمقرّبين للخروج معه على نفقته، وفي الطريق توقف عند قرية صغيرة فرأى فيها من يأكل من الميتة اضطراراً بسبب الجوع، فنظر فيما يحمل من نفقة الحج فوجدها ألف دينار ذهبي فأخذ منها 20 ديناراً تكفي للعودة من حيث أتي إلى مرو في خراسان وأعطاهم الباقي، ثم قال: (هذا أفضل من حجّنا في هذا لعام).
