إذا ما تُبتُ عن ليلى تتوبُ؟

فها أنا تائبٌ عن حبِّ ليلى

فما لكَ كلَّما ذُكرت تذوبُ؟

وما لكَ قد حننتَ لوصلِ ليلى

وكنتَ حلفتَ أنك لا تؤوبُ؟

بلى قد عُدتَ يا قلبي إليها

فهذا الدمعُ منسكبٌ صَبيبُ

يخَبِّرُ أنَّما الأشواقُ نارٌ

وتحت النارِ أضلاعٌ تذوبُ

إلى كم تنحني شوقاً إليها

وأحناءُ الفؤادِ بها نُدوبُ؟
