بمجرد رش هذه الرغوة، ستبدأ في التمدد وتسد كل شيء تلامسه في غضون دقائق. يُطلق عليها في الواقع اسم رغوة حاجز الحريق، وهي نوع محدد من رغوة العزل التي تُستخدم في المنازل لتبطئ انتشار الحريق. وتعمل مثل رغوات العزل الرشاشة التقليدية حيث تمتزج مادتان كيميائيتان وتتفاعلان عند الرش. هذا التفاعل يجعل الرغوة تتمدد وتصبح صلبة، مما يملأ الفجوات التي يمكن أن تمر منها النيران أو الدخان. وخصائصها المقاومة للحريق تساعد في إنشاء حاجز واقٍ.
