Thank you for watching. In this video I work with ash wood to create a super thin platter. Ash is an open-grained wood allowing for embellishing waxes to change the colour of the grain. The wrist brace you see me wearing in some of the shots is just me trying out an idea to absorb shocks from the lathe as I usually have to record multiple videos in one go.

اليابان متقدمة جدًا في التكنولوجيا لدرجة أنها لتجنب الفيضان، قامت ببناء أكبر بوابة مقوسة في العالم على النهر. لكن الناس هناك ما زالوا منزعجين من هذا الأمر.  لماذا بعد كل شيء؟  أيها الأصدقاء، هذا ليس جسرًا ولكنه بوابة هيدروليكية، من خلال إسقاطها يمكن إيقاف مياه النهر بالكامل لبضع ساعات. تحمي هذه البوابة المقوسة مدينة أوساكا باليابان من الرياح والعواصف المفاجئة. ولكن بسبب عيوب هذه البوابة المقوسة، فإن الناس هناك غاضبون منها. لأن إغلاق وفتح هذه البوابة الهيدروليكية يستغرق ثلاثين دقيقة، وهو أمر في حالة الطوارئ، أيضا تعمل بالكهرباء، وفي حالة انقطاع التيار الكهربائي بسبب العاصفة، لا يمكنها العمل.
