كلمة (تترى) اسمٌ وليست فعلًا، وأصلها (وَتْرى)، فالتاء مبدلة من واو، في لسان العرب: "وجاؤوا تَتْرى وتَتْراً أَي مُتَواتِرِين، التاء مبدلة من الواو"
قال تعالى: ﴿ثُمَّ أَرۡسَلۡنَا رُسُلَنَا تَتۡرَاۖ﴾ [المؤمنون ٤٤]
