وقد أنزل الله -سبحانه وتعالى- بأصحاب رسول الله -صلى الله عليه وسلم- الذين أجابوا النداء قوله: (الَّذِينَ اسْتَجَابُوا لِلَّـهِ وَالرَّسُولِ مِن بَعْدِ مَا أَصَابَهُمُ الْقَرْحُ لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا مِنْهُمْ وَاتَّقَوْا أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ).
رغم أن المسلمين كانوا مُثخنين بجراحهم؛ لِما لاقوه في غزوة أُحد، وأوّلهم رسول الله -صلى الله عليه وسلم-، إذ كانت الجروح تملأ وجهه الكريم، وقد شُجَّ من جبهته، وانجرحت لثّته، وكُسِرت رُباعيّته، وتضرّر منكبه الأيمن وركبتاه لمّا حاول ابن قمئة قتله، ومع ذلك مضى الرسول وأصحابه لحمراء الأسد ليردَّ شوكة المسلمين ويرفع من معنوياتهم.
