هاتشيكو هو كلب من فصيلة أكيتا إينو ولد في 10 نوفمبر 1923 في مدينة أوداته بمحافظة أكيتا في اليابان. يشتهر هاتشيكو بوفائه لصاحبه حتى لسنوات بعد وفاته. أحضر هاتشيكو إلى طوكيو من قبل سيده هيده-سابورو أوينو، البروفيسور في قسم الزراعة في جامعة طوكيو.

كان هاتشيكو يرافق أوينو إلى محطة شيبويا في طوكيو كل صباح وينتظره عند عودته من العمل كل مساء. استمر هذا التقليد لمدة تسعة أشهر حتى توفي أوينو بنوبة قلبية في 21 مايو 1925. لم يعلم هاتشيكو بوفاة صاحبه، وواصل انتظاره في المحطة كل يوم حتى وفاته في 8 مارس 1935.

أثارت قصة هاتشيكو تعاطف الناس في جميع أنحاء اليابان، وأصبح رمزًا للوفاء. تم نصب تمثال له في محطة شيبويا في عام 1934، ولا يزال أحد أشهر المعالم السياحية في طوكيو. كما تم إنتاج فيلمين عن قصته، الأول في عام 1987 والثاني في عام 2009.

تُعد قصة هاتشيكو مثالًا رائعًا على قوة الحب والالتزام. إنها قصة لا تزال تلهم الناس حتى يومنا هذا.
